Yes there should be an option to show Json Response from URL in Jasper Report Starter...
As Jasper Studio 6.3.0 Supports it but not Jasper Starter

Hi Daniel,
there is no need for a separate issue. If it is implemented once, it should work for all.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I think this is a terrible idea. For a useful solution, not only would one have to implement the basic HTTP GET, but in reality one would likely need to add support for authentication and so on. (For reference, a quick scan of the man page for something like wget will reveal a whole load of complexity that might be reasonably expected from a feature like this).

Instead, it would be better to use a tool like wget (or curl etc.) to fetch the data, and to pipe the resulting data into jasperstarter using JAS‌-97 (which I’ve just finished coding support for). Then all the power of wget (or curl etc.) can be left safely where it is.

Once JAS‌-97 is merged, I would suggest this be resolved as WONTFIX.

I completely agree! nothing more to explain here…

Use curl or wget and pipe to JasperStarter using stdin as input file.

Won't Fix
